proper tapas venue arrives thanks to a
couple of refugees from Mon Ami Gabi: Ramon
Triay and Chef John Simmons. Buzzing on the
weekends and more manageable and quiet on
weeknights, Firefly serves up a variety of
classic and new-school shared plates. Good
dishes include croquettes, a tortilla
Epanola with kick of heat, merguez, a spicy,
Moroccan-style lamb sausage and chorizo
clams served with a toasted bread for
dunking. Sangria and mojitos come by the

Although
it’s located smack-dab in the heart of
downtown, The Tank at the Golden Nugget
feels like a ritzy seaside resort in the
midst of the concrete and desert. Take a
mini-vacation with the whole
family—children are allowed and ages two
years and under are free. Since Wet ‘n’
Wild closed, this is the best place to treat
yourself to a rush of adrenaline and H20.
Guests of all ages will get a thrill from
zooming down a three-story waterslide that
carves a path through a 200,000 gallon
aquarium filled with exotic fish, sharks and
stingrays! For those more focused on getting
bronzed, seating choices include wicker
sofas, beds and lounge chairs half-submerged
in the pool for the ideal sun to water
ratio. The $30-million Tank is open year
round from 10 a.m. - 10 p.m., with the
