Sloan 2005 Proprietary Red - Cabernet Sauvignon

Red Wine by Sloan from Napa Valley, California. The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon has an almost La Mission Haut-Brion-like, scorched earth nose intermixed with cassis, coffee, and subtle hints of chocolate and balsamic.

The wine is rich, full-bodied, but with great elegance and palate presence, without being heavy. Every wine to date has displayed considerable tannin, but even more concentration and fruit, so it is not an issue of the wines drying out, but rather requiring some patience before the complexity, which is already showing promise, emerges and the wines soften. This is a brilliant 2005 that is certainly one of the top wines of the vintage but needs some time in the bottle. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2030+. 90 Points, Wine Advocate December 2008

Two Hands 2007 Bella's Garden Shiraz - Syrah/Shiraz Red Wine

Red Wine by Two Hands from Barossa Valley, Australia. Deep red with black to purple hues. Vibrant and focused, the characters continually evolving. Aromas of red currants, cherries and subtle lavender, followed by chocolate, char, hints of creme anglaise, spice, earth and rosemary. Full of rich red fruits, cloves and earthy notes, supported by fine tannins and elegant oak. The long palate is full of generous fruit and remains focused as it evenly tightens to a long balanced finish with fresh acidity. Ripe, fleshy and generous, but not nearly over the top, with gorgeous cherry, pomegranate, black olive and bay leaf flavors arching beautifully and swirling through the long, supple finish. Best from 2010 through 2017. 94 Points Wine Spectator

Albino Armani 2007 Soave - White Wine

White Wine by Albino Armani from Italian, Italy. Castles, churches, bell towers and luxurious aristocratic villas emerging from the sea of vineyards demonstrate the rich history and traditions of the Soave production zone, (in the eastern part of the hills in the province of Verona) closely linked to its principal product. Straw yellow in color, on the nose it is fresh and fragrant with scents of hibiscus, rose and honeyed apricot. In the mouth it is dry and long lasting with red apple flavor. An excellent aperitif and goes very well with raw fish, oysters and shellfish, and baked or grilled fish. It can also stand up to pasta with vegetables and meat sauce.

Los Vascos 2006 Le Dix - Cabernet Sauvignon Red Wine

Red Wine by Los Vascos from Chile, South America. Le Dix 2006 has a deep garnet color, almost black. The powerful nose develops aromas of very ripe black fruit and wild cherries complemented by aromas of wax, cedar, laurel, and licorice. The oak is pleasantly integrated with the fruit. This adds to the wine enjoyable aromas of toasted coffee, vanilla, tobacco and cinnamon. The Syrah adds nuances of violets and raspberries. In the mouth, it is round, dense, fresh and fruity. The wine is very concentrated, very balanced and elegant, fresh and long with rich but ripe and soft tannins. It finishes with a strong taste of cherry (kirsch) and a light bitterness of walnut peel typical of great Cabernets. The Carmenere adds an enjoyable touch of pepper. This superb wine is already very expressive and less austere than the 2004. It is still young but will rapidly gain in complexity and softness. To drink from 2009 and later. Very good ageing potential. A very fine vintage! Deep purple in color, with aromas of cassis, blackberry and coffee, this wine's flavors are equally warm. It's refreshed by the tension between the tannin and acidity. 91 Points Wine & Spirits June 2008
